A: The costs are very minimal. The entry level is £4 per child and all other levels are £3. You are therefore looking at a total cost of £22 to complete the whole course.
Q: How long does it take to complete the course?
A: This depends on the skill level of the child. As a rough guideline the child will pass one level per year starting from school entry year. Older or more experienced children will possibly get through the entry levels more quickly.
Q: What is the benefit to my players?
A: The players will now have the core skills to implement the other functions of the sport you are teaching. The players will get enjoyment from the reward structure of the course.
Q: What is the benefit for the coach?
A: You will benefit from the children you coach wanting to practice more away from coaching sessions. You can track how well a child is progressing and identify any weaknesses. As the child progresses through the course the increasing skill level will allow you to develop the actual game play of the children you coach.
Q: What is the resposibility of the parent?
A: You will find your child wants to practice more now they have a goal to aim for. A parent should encourage the child to practice the various skills away from the coaching sessions. From feedback received we have found that even parents with no sporting experience can actively interact and help their child to learn within a fun framework.
Q: What is the responsibilty of the coach?
A: To only pass a child when they can consistently repeat a skill. If a coach passes a child too quickly then the child is unlikely to pass at the next level due to the core skill not being developed properly.
Q: How do I incorporate this in to my existing coaching sessions?
A: The course will work side by side with your existing coaching methods but will now give you an additional resource for tracking the childs progress. Remember this isn't telling you how to coach it is purely a skills testing program.
Q: How will I know how well my child is doing?
A: The coach will now have a reference to guide any parent as to the areas that are required to be practiced. You will also see the progress in the childs manual.
Q: Can a child start at any other level than the beginning red level?
A: No. The course builds on skills throughout the levels and is designed with this in mind.
Q: Can I buy individual manuals?
A: Only students manuals. These will be individually priced, see the order page for details.
Q: What sports do IKS cover?
A: At present football though several others will soon be available, so keep checking the website.
